3
and 4 Year Old Funding for Nursery Provision
From
the beginning of the new term after a child's third birthday,
parents/carers will be entitled to receive funding towards
their child's place.
Parents/carers
will be asked to sign a declaration form by a certain deadline
date, confirming that information about their child and
the attendance pattern at nursery is correct. Once completed
(at the end of the month), these forms, along with the census
form are returned to the Council.
Payment
is made by the City of York Council directly to York Childcare
Ltd in 2 instalments, one at the beginning of each term
and one at the end of each term.
There
are three terms in each year for which funding can be received:
Spring, Summer and Autumn. The term 'term' loosely applies
to an equivalent school term, and during each term eligible
parent/carers will receive one payment.
Parent/carers
will be able to claim for up to 15 hours per week but may
choose to use the nursery for more hours than the funding
covers (standard nursery fees apply).
The
Council dictates the amount of funding per term. However,
the Nursery Manager will be able to inform parent/carers
of current funding amounts. Currently the amount is £657.40
per term for 15 hours for 38 weeks of the year. Please note
that the full entitlement to funding will not equate to
the cost of a full time place at nursery.
Nursery
Managers will establish the intentions for each parent claiming
funding for the York Childcare nursery place prior to the
term starting, and arrangements will be made for discounts
to be applied to invoices on a monthly basis to spread the
3 & 4 Year Old Funding over the relevant months in the
term as follows:
Summer
term discount applied to invoices in April,
May June and July
Autumn
term discount applied to invoices in September,
October, November, December
Spring
term discount applied to invoices in January,
February and March
No
discount is applied during the month of August.
