Some questions answered…

How will you help my child settle in?

After the initial family visit we offer one hour settling in sessions where

your child comes to play, usually on a day they are booked in for. We

buddy the children up by introducing your child to all the children and

asking who knows them and who will look after them. We have a key

worker system and staff members are responsible for checking that

the children are happy, settled and their individual needs are being met.

What happens if my child has an accident?

A minimum of one play worker will be a qualified first aider and a first aid

box is available. Every accident will be recorded and reported to you

when you collect your child. We will contact you immediately about any accident to the head or if hospitalisation is required.

What do I do if my child requires medicine?

Play workers can only administer medicines that have been prescribed

by the Doctor to your child and have been given for a period of 24 hours

before attending the club. If your child needs an inhaler, or epipen please ensure that it is clearly

labelled and given to staff; it will be given to the child if necessary for self-administration.

If medicine is required on a regular basis we will set up a health care plan with you.

This will be discussed on your family visit with your child.

How do you organise the routine here and how will my child

know what happens during a session?

We have a visual timetable which shows what happens and when.

The children vote to decide what activities they want to do.

What kind of play activities do you provide here?

We have bikes, scooters, creeper scooters, and roll-a-round boards

include: sand, clay, plasticine, play dough, painting and chalk. We have

Our construction toys include Lego, K’nex and Meccano brio.

We also have the use of the school computers and a variety of other electronic gaming

which includes karaoke and dancing.

Drawing, paper craft, collage & jewelry making are part of the indoor activities.

My child is very bright- how will you encourage his learning?

Each child has a key worker and planning for their next steps is done

through our Early Years Foundation Stage planning. All the children are involved in the planning

and their interests are noted, they are consulted

on what equipment we should buy for the club when we are applying for funding.

Can my child choose where he wants to play: inside or outside?

Your child can chooses to play outside or inside until 5.00pm depending on the weather

 and number of children attending.

What would happen if my child was not feeling well or was

tired and needed to lie down for a while?

We would find out what was wrong with the child, provide first aid

where appropriate and ring their parents. We have soft mats, cushions

and a blanket for them to lie on if they needed a sleep. We would also

ring their parents to inform them.

What clothing should I provide for my child?
