Kool Kids are Pedal ready for winter!!!

An After School Club in York have found the perfect way to stay warm this winter, by getting on their bikes and pedalling. Kool Kids club are gearing up for autumn with their first Bike Club ride to York's Cycle Hub Station.

Kool Kids Bike Club are cycling from their old base on Rawcliffe Drive past their new one on Eastholme Drive and along York's cycle network to pay a visit to the York Cycle Hub Station.

After their exertions on their bikes they will get a chance to see how a busy bike repair centre works and then get to pick their new fleet of bikes for their club.

The club is led by Sally McLean, a keen cyclist herself, who said "The young people at Kool Kids were really keen on doing more activities with bikes and getting Bike Club status has helped our group achieve this.

"With Bike Club our young people are going to get the chance to find out about York's cycle routes, learn about bike maintenance and overall increase their independence"

Andrew Thorp, Bike Club Officer, said "Kool Kids have shown real enthusiasm for cycling, whether its learning new bike skills or finding out about fixing their own bikes. The young people in Kool Kids are really enjoying their bike activities and are setting themselves up to get the most out of cycling when they are older."

The group of kids from the York After School Club have had their own Bike Club since the summer, after applying to a national cycling charity, called Bike Club, which helped them set up their club and continues to support their activities.
