Dunnington Children was formed when the Playgroup & Out of School Club united in December 2003.

We have a long history stretching back over 25 years, offering quality Pre-School Education and After School Care in Dunnington.

 

We are Ofsted Registered for 40 children aged from 2½ – 11 and we provide sessional care from 8am -6pm. We are an open-access setting which means we are fully inclusive.

We have wheelchair access and will cater for individual needs.

 

Tiddlers

 

A parent & toddler group from birth to school age.

This is held in the Methodist Chapel on Common Road during school term time.

Sessions

Tuesday 9.15 – 11.15

Friday 9.15 – 11.15

A session costs £3.20 but we offer a discount if you book the whole half term in advance.

Linda Goodwin provides a warm welcome to all parents/carers and their children whether it is their first child or one of many.

Tiddlers provides the opportunity for your child to play and have their first interaction with other children. We offer craft activities, a structured sing song and refreshments.

Your child learns to negotiate, share, explore and discover in a safe and cheerful environment.

For first time parents it is a chance to meet other parents/carers and to have a chat and a coffee.

Dunnington Playgroup

 

Our playgroup sessions are available to children from 2 1/2 years old. We offer 10 sessions a week and they are available, applying our Equal Opportunities Policy.

We have 26 places at the following times:-

 

Playgroup Morning 9.00 –11.30

£6.25 or funded

Lunch Club 11.30 –12.30

£2.50 with pack up (£1.30 extra for hot dinner)

Playgroup Afternoon Session 12.30 –3.00

£6.25 or funded

 

We offer your child a happy, safe, welcoming environment with planned sessions following the Foundation Stage Curriculum. Our range of pre-school activities is wide and varied and ensures your child has exposure to lots of experiences and learning opportunities. We aim for your child to be happy and confident when starting school, with all the appropriate social skills in place.

 

During the term before your child starts school we offer an extra pre-school “Stepping Stones” session, which integrates with Dunnington Primary School providing a transition to starting school.

 

Nursery Funding is available from the term after your child's 3 rd birthday and you can claim up to a maximum of 15 hours a week. Please ask in the office for details.  

 

 

 

After School Club

“Play” and “freedom of choice” are the key criteria in all our planned activities.

Children are encouraged to make choices and suggestions about activities, equipment and materials There are planned crafts and physical activities as an option, but the children have a free choice.

When conflict arises we encourage discussion and openness.

Children are expected to respect one another and to be kind.

All opinions are valued and individual rights respected.

There is a “chill out” zone for the junior children.

Breakfast Club

Infants are taken to the infant playground before the start of school and supervised until they enter school.

Juniors make their own way to the junior playground.

After School Club

Juniors make their own way to the club using the back door, infants are collected from their classrooms by a member of staff.

Wrap-around Care

From 3 years old children can attend breakfast club and/or after school club, giving parents the opportunity of full “wrap-around” care from 8 am – 6pm.

Holiday Club

 

Our holiday club runs throughout the school holidays except for bank holidays and Christmas week. We are open to 3 –11 year olds and provide two sessions a day.

 

8am – 1pm £9  

1pm – 6pm £9

 

Children can come to 1 session or for the full day

8am –6pm £17.50.

Sessions must be booked in advanced and paid for at the time of booking.

Unfortunately this fee is non-transferable and non-refundable .

 

Lunch is between 12 and 1pm and children bring their own packed lunch. We provide snacks mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Along with regular baking and cooking sessions for the children.

 

We offer a variety of games, toys, computers, playstations etc along with organised crafts, freeplay and structured and themed activities.

We encourage outdoor play and sporting opportunities such as tag rugby and tennis are available during the Summer.

 

Children are encouraged to suggest activities and themes and our staff help to facilitate and enable the children.
