Dear Parents/Carers,

We have received various comments and queries regarding the increase in fees.

We would like to clarify why we have had no alternative but to increase the charges and hope the points listed below will help to explain this:  

• The fees parents/carers pay must cover all overheads ie. Rent, insurance, wages, Ofsted registration fee, and refreshments. At present we are not covering these overheads and all these costs have recently increased.  

• The fees charged at each club differ depending on where they are based, the level of occupancy, and overheads therefore cannot be compared with each other.  

• We do not get any Government funding to support the out of school clubs, nor do we get any funding from City of York Council .

• York Childcare Ltd do not have any funds to subsidise any settings that we manage. We are not a private provider.

• Parents can get help paying childcare costs please visit www. hmrc . gov . uk for more details.

We are always looking for funding to support out of school clubs but there is no funding to support overhead costs only toys, equipment and activities.

This has been an ongoing problem since out of school clubs were first developed in the 1990's and we have raised this issue time and time again with the Local Authority and the Government.
